Girl Guides Earn Award for Auggie’s Café Volunteering

This past summer, our long-serving Auggie’s Café volunteers were given a break when members of the Stony Plain Pathfinders provided help with both the café and Monday evening bread-bagging duties. (Pathfinders are the aged 12-14 girls from Girl Guides Canada.)  This awesome gift of labour and talent did not go unnoticed when the girls received a first-place prize in the local Compete to Contribute competition! This prize is not just recognition for being the best at partaking in acts of service to better the community – it came with a contribution cheque for $10,860 for their group! The prize funds were raised from a few local businesses want to inspire breakthroughs in the way children see their community and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.

St. Augustine’s – Parkland Anglican Church congratulates this fine group of young ladies who have contributed greatly to the operation of Auggie’s Café over the past three months and have learned valuable lessons – and hopefully instilled in them a love for public service and volunteerism.
